Cancellation Policies

As of August 3, 2020. 

  • Effective October 1, 2020, our normal cancellation policy will go back into effect as stated below and in the Cancellation Policy section of the Historic Key West Vacation Rentals website.
  • No further credits will be issued and no further refunds will be given to requests for cancellations with arrival dates within 60 days in any of our nightly rentals, and 90 Days for our monthly rentals.
  • For cancellation requests more than 60 days from the arrival date for nightly rentals, and 90 days for monthly rentals, our standard cancellation policy applies, which includes the $500 cancellation fee.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has forced us to reevaluate how we handle cancellations. As always, our number one priority is our guests and we strive to handle each cancellation professionally and with compassion.  However, we also have a financial obligation to our business and homeowners.  It is becoming increasingly more difficult to balance the two with the ongoing and ever-changing COVID-19 situation.  The only exception to the policy will be in the event you, a member of your traveling party that is listed on your rental agreement, or a member of your immediate family have a positive test result in writing which mandates you cannot travel within the dates of your reservation. 

 

After October 1, 2020:

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

Cancellations and refunds for nightly rentals:

  • Cancellations made 60 days or less prior to arrival date: There will be no refund, entire amount collected is forfeited.
  • Cancellations made 61 days or more outside of arrival date: Full refund, less $500 cancellation fee OR 10% of reservation total, whichever is greater, regardless of reservation date. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing or via email to bookings@historickw.com. We cannot return fees collected by third-party web sites.  

Cancellations and refunds for monthly rentals:

  • Cancellations made 90 days or less prior to arrival date: There will be no refund, entire amount collected is forfeited.
  • Cancellations made 91 days or more outside of arrival date: Full refund, less $500 cancellation fee OR 10% of reservation total, whichever is greater, regardless of reservation date. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing or via email to bookings@historickw.com. We cannot return fees collected by third-party web sites.

CANCELLATIONS AND HURRICANE SEASON

  • We STRONGLY encourage all guests with a reservation between June 1-November 30, 2020 to purchase trip insurance to protect against any potential tropical disturbances, hurricanes, etc. that would prohibit you from traveling to Key West and checking in to your vacation rental. There will be absolutely NO REFUNDS for cancellations, interruptions or early departures due to weather related incidents. We offer trip insurance through Generali and details on how to purchase coverage can be found below.

GENERALI RESERVATION TRIP INTERRUPTION / TRAVEL CANCELLATION INSURANCE

Due to strict guidelines to Key West cancellation policies, we strongly encourage you to purchase Generali Reservation Insurance. Travel insurance is not refundable but may cover you up to the entire reservation cost, minus any travel insurance costs. You may purchase Generali Travel Insurance through Historic Key West Vacation Rentals or through an agency of your choice. A quote has been provided. This insurance is available to U.S. residents only. We ask our international guests to find a local provider. Hurricanes: If you are traveling during Hurricane Season, which is June 1 through Nov. 30, we strongly suggest you purchase Travel Insurance. There will be no refunds for weather (tropical disturbances, hurricanes, etc.) or for early departure.

The insurance rate offered is 7.65% of the reservation total.
